Takt vs Chrome's built-in tab groups

Chrome can make tab groups, sync them and save them, but it won't put a tab into a group for you. Its AI "Organize tabs" feature has been retired. Takt adds the automatic part on top of Chrome's own groups.

Short answer:

  • Choose Chrome on its own if you group a few tabs by hand now and then, and Memory Saver keeps memory in check.
  • Choose Takt if you want tabs filed into groups as they open, by rule or by category, without doing it by hand, and if duplicate tabs annoy you.

Where Chrome's built-in tab tools does better

  • It's already there: no install, no permissions, nothing to learn.
  • Tab groups sync with your Google account across devices, including phones.
  • Memory Saver and the memory figure on each tab's hover card cover a lot of the memory problem.

Try it on your own tabs. The free plan has no time limit.

FAQ

Does Chrome group tabs automatically?

No. You add tabs to a group by hand. Chrome's AI "Tab organizer", which suggested groups, has been retired.

Does Takt replace Chrome's tab groups?

No. Takt creates and fills Chrome's own tab groups, so they still sync and save the way Chrome does it.
